Couple of months ago I've registered on LinkedIn and its' Polish mirror - GoldenLine. From that time, after updating my profile I received a number of work offers.
I want to find out how it looks in your, especially non-US, countries? Does your employer's HR use social networking sites in employment process?

I can't speak to non-American companies but I know tons and tons of corporations are on LinkedIn actively recruiting. In fact, it's led to them changing how people are allowed to contact individuals they don't know.
The genius part of it: the recruiters trying to contact you end up paying Linkedin for the privilege of talking to you. It's pretty win-win for us (people looking for opportunities).
The biggest thing is keeping your profile current so that you're "passively" looking for new opportunities all the time.

Hey ludwikc. It does work both sides. My company (swedish) is using LinkedIn to find a replacement for me (managing director of the italian operations) and I've received quite a few opportunities through it. I think they can become a real cash machine, both through advertising and premium services. Apparently they're gonna make an IPO pretty soon...
