Hehe, check out these 10 rules and feel free to compare/contrast. >:-)

Any takes on what rules 6 and 8 mean?

Sorry couldn't read past:

I did an interesting presentation this morning. I went into it knowing it would be interesting, though, and it ended up largely as expected.

I guess when you know you are good, you are good.

Brag much?

This guy sounds like the king of saying nothing while talking.

Okay, I went through the list and here are my thoughts.

  1. Align it with business goals. Okay so lineup my business rules with my business goals, makes sense. I'll give it to him.
  2. Plan for success. Can't argue that one.
  3. Plan for failure. You should be realistic and know that there is a chance things won't work out, but actually planning for it? Just not my style I guess.
  4. Innovate. Agreed.
  5. Respond to questions / comments / criticims. Just responding is different from how you respond and when you do it.
  6. Leave money on the table. Not sure what he means here.
  7. Ask questions. About what?
  8. There is no spoon. Ummm, tell that to Denton, Calacanis, et al.
  9. Assign resources. Can't argue that one.
  10. Fail weekly. Are you supposed to try to fail weekly or just note that you failed weekely?

A lot of common sense and a lot of stuff that just doesn't seem to fit.

Makes sense, but can you explain the spoon reference Scrivs?

I think it's okay to plan for failure. More a 'if' not 'when' plan though. It's silly for people to think they can't fail. I'm actually impressed on how well you've done with 9rules. Would you say there have been failures?

Well it's obviously a Matrix reference, but I forgot what the meaning behind the spoon not being there was. Something about things happening only if you believe them to happen, even if they're not, but they are, no they're not, yes.

Dev of course there has been failures, hell, look at 9rules Spanish... we did our very best but in the end we didn't speak Spanish so creating a community atmosphere was very difficult. Other failures include the failure to stop depositing so much money into our bank accounts, see, that's a failure right?

Failure is a relative term. Like I wrote on Wisdump yesterday if 9rules left today some people would say we were a failure because we didn't hit the big riches, while others see us a great success. Some people do come into this life with silver spoons in their lives so success can come much quicker and easier.

Yeah they have to put a little effort into it, but if you had to place bets on who would make millions faster between me and Paris Hilton who would you pick?

Haha I took it as a Silver Spoon, not the Matrix. If you use the Matrix as part of your rules it should negate everything.

Oooh, silver spoon. Got it. See Mike, it's not "obviously" a reference or else I wouldn't have asked. ;-)

I completely forgot about 9rules Spanish but I was honestly sitting and trying to think of a failure.
