So this was an advert done by Kinder Surprise makers Ferrero and broadcast during the '80s. Somewhat disturbing, I'm sure you'll agree.

Are there any adverts that scared the pants off you when you were growing up?

Yes, scary creepy commercial but the Kinder Surprise chocolates... Mmm... Loved them when I lived in Germany back in the 80's. One of the things I loved there is that we had a candy truck (similar to an ice cream one but with candy) that came through the neighborhood every day. Mmm... Also went to the nearest local town away from base housing to find those treats in shoppes. Thank you for the nostalgia though I realize that I didn't answer the question at all.

Actually, some of the political ads for US President were scarey. I don't remember who this was promoting but it was during the Cold War and a nuclear mushroom cloud was in the background.

Waita second. Where was that ad shown? In the U.S.? The reason I'm asking is because I love kinder eggs, and I have my friends in Germany and Brazil send them to me.

Those creepy kids on the Ovaltine commercials always scared me. I was pretty sure they were brainwashed and/or possessed. I can't find a youtube vid though....

Where was that ad shown?

Only the UK, I believe, but I could be wrong - it was many years ago.

@auburn: Honestly, I find most US advertising scary, but that is only because I'm not used to it. When I was in the States a couple of years ago, I watched American television one evening and the adverts were quite specific. As in, they would say things like "buy our product because our rival's product is less good by x amount." But they actually named the rival product and defamed it. We don't get that here, it isn't quite as direct. Of course, advertising does use a lot of subliminal messages, even these days, so a mushroom cloud in the background doesn't surprise me.

@a_romig: You had a candy truck? Wow. I guess it's no different to the ice cream van though. It's all about convenience.

Cal Worthington and His Dog Spot used to scare the begeezus out of me, for some reason. I have no idea why.

Auburn, could this be the ad you were referring to?

Damn that video is scary Alan, and the voiceover at the end is like a horror movie.

@Ollie: Oh we had the candy one and the ice cream truck too. Dangerous!

@alisa: Now you made me remind myself of the Welch's Grape Juice commercials. My wife and I believe these kids were grown in pods.
