Strange dropoff in spam comments

Over the past month my spam commenters have gone from a few dozen a day to almost nothing.
I'm not complaining, but I can't help but get this nervous feeling that they're on to something else now. I thought it was just a strange coincidence for my blog, but no, I've checked half a dozen other wordpress blogs I have access to and it's the same.
Anyone else seeing this? Theories?

You know... come to think of it... I hadn't checked my SPAM logs in about 3 weeks, and there were FIVE SPAM comments in there when a year ago, that would have been close to FIFTY.
Where'd they go?

Same with me. Within the past few weeks my spam comments have dropped significantly.
At first I thought I broke my comment script, but that wasn't it. Then I thought it was my new site theme which warned people that the comment form was protected by Akismet, but that wasn't it either.
Interesting that it's happening to multiple people.

My poor blog, that's where!
I am getting completely and utterly hammered at the moment. It's not unusual to see 500 or so in the Akismet queue when I log in in the morning, and on top of that I have three or four pieces that slip past into moderation every hour.
Clearly, you two are to blame. Grrr. Just tell me what you did and how to fix it, and I'll not set the penguins on you!

Damn, she's onto us! I knew I shouldn't have put in that "Forward to Cas' blog" script on my blog.
Honestly, I don't know what I did because nothing has changed on my blog in months except the content.

Well come to think of it, I've noticed it too. I used to be hammered with automated spam regardless of having the Bad Behavior plugin. Now it's deathly quiet. Not that I don't like it, it's just the manual spams that annoy me more now.

I have a strange increase in my regular comments ending up moderation, for no apparent reason. Almost all them recently.

Well I know it's not the same as spam comments, but here on this site the spam ebbs and flows. Recently we've had a lot of spam, but then it'll go silent for a week or so before we get hit again.
