After waking up this morning to a 20% feedburner subscriber boost, I quickly found out the reason why: google's reporting unique users now. I'd always suspected there were a lot out there, but now I know.
So - did you all see large boosts across the board, or does the increase seem to vary?

I saw a large increase in my subscriber count, but I'm going to wait a couple days until agreeing with the statistics. I read yesterday that Google was going to start using the Feedfetcher agent and also remember reading somewhere that it may take Feedburner a couple days to get an accurate count.

Forgot to mention, if you didn't know already, that the count Google Feedfetcher returns is for people using Google Reader and Google's personalized start page. Personally, I would have preferred that Google provide separate counts for Google Reader and the start page, but still I'm happy to finally see what the count is.

I checked my feedburner stats after ericg mentioned this in #9rules and saw that for My Mean Girl, my feed count went up over 56%. I was wondering where everyone went...

About a 20% jump here as well. I was wondering where the hell everyone had just come from!
(Not that I mind, I broke the 100 reader mark for the first time yesterday - just picture me dancing round my room in my PJ's and fluffy bunny slippers, you'll get a good idea of my reaction)

I haven't noticed the boom. Might just be because my blog doesn't have that many subscribers anyhow.
But hey, this is all good news, stats-wise :D

Cas, I did too - just minus the dancing and bunny slippers. Pretty exciting results. Now it's just a matter of boosting comments proportionally!

Don't take this wrong but people here sound like they've had an actual increase...
Just because the reporting is more accurate doesn't mean there's been an increase on how many people are reading your stuff.
If anything your reader/comment ratio has gone down. If anything, today should be a sad one.

Oli, no, but the fact is that it's now quantified. We know how much our stats were underreported before, which provides a more realistic way to analyze the reader:comment ratio.
Like I said previously, it's now a matter of fostering more discussion, as what may have been acceptable before has just been reduced.

Oli, yeah I know that my Feedburner stats are only a very inaccurate picture of my actual readership - but it's still nice to see those numbers increase. And like Eric said, it's getting the comments/discussion to increase as well that's the important stuff.

I'm up from an average of 68-ish to 90 today. I actually expected more, but I'm happy with that.

I had a 40% jump. It felt good then I realized that everyone else had similar jumps as well. Dang.
