I have .com and would be my first choice everytime. After that .co.uk or .org/.net. My family email is .me.uk which I think is kinda cool as its for me! hehe! Other than that .com rules!

.ws domains ring a big spam-alert bell inside my head. I personally use a .nl domain because I´m Dutch/I use my name but for anything else I would prefer .com or .net or .org

I love the domain name govcom.org :)

WS is the top level domain of Western Samoa, like Oli said. Though it is being marketed more and more as an acronym of "website," ostensibly because of the lack of available .coms.

It's worth bearing in mind that .ws TLDs are non-transferable, by the way.

My opinion is that you shouldn't bother. .com, .net, et al are popular and convenient because they are easily pronounced - dot-com, dot-net, dot-co-dot-co-dot-uk - but .ws is not. It wouldn't be as memorable, to my mind.

I use .ws as part of myfla.ws, the domain hack of my personal blog. Actually, the price was not $24, but the same as .com at most registers - $1.99. (Providing you have the right savings codes). However, if it wasn't for the domain hack, I wouldn't register a .ws and would prefer to stick with .name for personal blogs or .com/.net for everything else.

I have .org only because .com and .net were taken and I needed it to go with the name of my blog. So yeah, like everyone else said .com first, .net second, and .org last, I didn't even want to get into all the other ones because I would never remember it.

I agree with those who say .com is best.

Afterwards I'd go for a .co.uk (as I'm in the UK) or a .net or .org depending on the venture.

I almost bought princes.st as Princes Street is the main street in my city, but then thought no-one would remember it as well as a dot com.

i always prefer a .com to anything else.

..actually, sometimes .net just sounds better for a blog- but it depends!

I wouldn't pay (especially extra) for a .ws!

Just my 2c, hope it helps!

I can see using it for amusement but not much else. I don't ever recall seeing a .ws site in the wild.

I wonder if these are taken..

WS is Samoa's country-code.

I've seen them about but they're not as memorable as a .com unless you work them into the domain. I seem to remember somebody here owning myfla.ws which works.

The added expense makes them even less attractive.

Hello 9rulers,

the .ws domains (e.g. www.mutahir.ws), are they a good choice ? the price is something like $24 for a year .

what do you all think of .ws domains ?

Regards
