Following the ever expanding trend of social video, we have launched the new website VidzUp.com. However, VidzUp.com is not yet another video hosting site, but a community platform for those interested in finding, viewing and showing video's and creating their own.

VidzUp.com aims to address the need for a social video meta-site by becoming the largest collection of tips, tutorials and workshops related to social video on the internet. VidzUp.com is for both beginners and experts interested in social video services like YouTube, Google Video, MSN Soapbox, Revver, and Yahoo Video. On VidzUp.com users can find the latest news, tips, how-to's, tutorials, forums and other stuff related to the growing industry of social video.

We are interested to hear your opinions on the site and how we can improve it.

All feedback is welcome.

Cheers,
Donato

Looks like an interesting concept, and I'm glad it's just you and your partner working on it because it looks to be basically a blog and a forum centering around video production tips and tutorials. I hate seeing sites like this with a dozen employees :)

The design is a little light on the contrast, sometimes it's difficult to notice the text on the homepage (white on orange, white on green) so I'd like to see the colors made darker and the text larger. The design of your forum looks pretty close to the default theme the software comes with, it'd be nice if you integrated the forum look and feel into your site's overall look more.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, at the moment it is just me and one other person who are working on the site.

I will have a word with him about the colors as he is the webdesigner. We decided the keep the default theme of the forum but maybe we could integrate it a bit more with the rest of the look & feel of the site.

Once again thanks for the feedback. It is very helpful.

BTW, do you think such a support site for social video is a good idea or not?

Cheers,
Donato

very interesting idea.

have you thought about developing your own media player/ uploading features? I feel like this will increase your user base!

I have no experience developing a mediaplayer nor programming uploading features.

Do you think that adding a YouTube-like section to VidzUp will increase its user base? Aren't there already plenty of sites that try to mimic YouTube? Why try to compete with the 300 pound gorilla?

Doing a YouTube setup would probably be too complicated for this venture.

I agree with Scrivs.

But how can I lure people to VidzUp? As there are no other dedicated support sites for social video I need to find sites and forums where I can find people who might be interested in finding and/or sharing tips.

YouTube doesn't have a forum and Google Video only has a Google Group where I have already posted an announcement.

I have sent press releases to all the major IT-sites but alas none of them have picked it up. Not even Mashable.com who writes alot about new social network initiatives.

I know that it takes months or even years to built up a community, but the first step is to make your presence know to people who might be interested.

Send a press release to me, I'll take a look over it. :P

Hi ComputerJoe,

I've sent you our press release.
