See? I'm a smart monkey.
Also a textpattern user.
I see a trend here.

Agreed with peroty, two separate feeds (and maybe a combined feed for the people that like both).

As peroty said - two feeds. Give me the option. If I'm on the fence/not totally in love with a blog then I tend to get annoyed with oodles of links mixed in with the big posts. However, if I'm head over heals for the blog, then I like to know EVERYTHING they say.

Gruber recently changed DF's feed to full content -- links and full article content -- from just summary feed of the main articles and I unsubscribed almost instantly. Appreciated the full text, but not all the links.

Separate feeds if it's an option, otherwise leave it out.

2 feeds.

1 with just the blog posts.
1 with all the posts and interesting bits.

Then everybody wins. :D

Give people an option. I've known many bloggers who lost subscribers because they felt bombarded with the non-article stuff.

Not all the crap. I would delete a feed with volumes of junk.

I feed all my posts but I only post a few times a week.

I've got a question for y'all and the way you answer will seriously influence my blog's feed, to please think hard ;)

On my blog about, oh, 2 or 3 times a week I'll post a "big article." You know what I mean, an essay or whatever.

The rest of the time, about 5 times a day I'll post links, videos, etc.

If you were going to subscribe to my feed what would you want? Would you want to know every time I posted a link or would you only want to know when I wrote something big?

I'm pretty sure that Kottke only includes his "major" posts in his feed, right?
