A Question About Facebook Apps

I'm going to throw out a question about Facebook App "spam". And I suppose I'm going to do a lot of stereotyping and generalizing but here it goes.
Do you guys have a lot of eccentric friends. I love them to death but I do get a number of app invites from them every once in a while and no
And the list could go on. Now I'm not trying to pin this whole App problem on one group of people but is it possible that the invasive app problem is only caused by one type of app and that the reason why other people aren't as annoyed with facebook is because they don't have interaction with that "app group"?
And I'm talking super specific here folks. The Zombie/Pirate/Superpoke type apps are pretty invasive and are almost virus like so I don't think that it is anyone's fault but it is something to think about.
Folks what do you think? Oh and the Quiz app is pretty invasive as well. People could be inviting people to the app without even knowing it.

the 100's of requests from apps like those
are a big reason why I hardly ever use my facebook
maybe if ppl could opt out of ever receiving one of those requests ever again
I think facebook would be decent

I'm sorry that Facebook apps have such a bad name! Unfortunately, the notification system is the only system that Facebook gives app developers that -works-. It sucks that a few super-spammy, super-stupid apps give the decent apps a bad name.
As the developer of a big (sometimes spammy) app, I apologize!

I tend to agree it's not the apps that are so bad. It's the notification system for the apps and the tendency to default to GIVE THIS TO ALL MY FRIENDS every time you add something.
Take that away, and give me some sort of app notification settings and the Facebook experience would be tons better.

I only touch Facebook when someone sends me a message. I get enough spam in my email account.
